Perry Mandera is a Marine Corps Veteran, and businessman with a heart of gold. A Chicago native that joined the Marine Corps Reserves, fresh out of high school in 1975. In the military, he learned how to drive a truck, and brought that skill back to civilian life.
When he returned to Chicago, after his honorable discharge, he worked as a truck driver for Illinois trucking companies. In 1980, he started his own trucking company that he would later sell in 1985. Mandera also dabbled in politics, becoming the youngest 26th Ward Committeeman in Chicago history. He maintained this position from 1984 to 1988.
In 1986, Perry started The Custom Cares Company. This company services businesses of all sizes, from small family establishments to Fortune 100 companies. With annual revenue of $200 million, The Custom Cares Company employs several hundred people. His company provides transport and logistics services.
Perry Mandera’s company was named as one of the “Top 100 American Transportation Services of the Millennium,” by the Illinois Trucking Association.
Mandera is also a pillar of his community. He is well known for his charitable contributions to organizations and causes, on behalf of his company. Some of his notable contributions include: giving 6,500 winter coats to underprivileged children in Chicago, contributing to veterans causes, and donations toward the cure and prevention of cancer.
His passion for charity prompted Perry to establish his own charity called, Custom Cares Charities. This organization has donated thousands of dollars towards Chicago residents in need. Perry Mandera’s personal philosophy is structured around giving back to the community that has given him so much.
Mandera also contributes to more than 100 youth sports teams in Illinois. He has coached the youth in baseball, football, and basketball. He is also a boxing enthusiast, who managed 2004 Olympic boxer, Donnell “Doc” Nickleson.
